My Journey – From Ambition to Success
I’ve always believed that entrepreneurship isn’t just about building a business—it’s about creating something that truly aligns with your values, vision, and purpose. My journey has been one of resilience, ambition, and constant evolution, and I’m excited to share how it all began.
Taking the Leap into Entrepreneurship
In 2003, I took my first step into the business world, leaving behind the security of full-time employment to co-found a company with two like-minded partners. We shared a vision, a drive to build something successful, and a commitment to creating financial stability for our families.
But entrepreneurship is never as straightforward as it seems. Along the way, I faced challenges—conflicting priorities, different leadership styles, and moments of doubt. Yet, through determination and a strong belief in our mission, we built a business with an outstanding reputation, attracting clients from far and wide and growing a team of talented professionals. That experience gave me unstoppable confidence and reinforced my passion for business.
The Birth of the Sarah Barrett Brand
By 2009, I knew it was time to build something of my own—something that truly represented my philosophy, values, and ethics. That’s when the Sarah Barrett brand was born. My vision was to create a high-end business that incorporated sustainability, organics, and a client experience unlike anything else.
But there was a problem. The UK was in the middle of a recession, banks weren’t lending, and everyone around me told me it was too risky to start a business at such an uncertain time. I faced the internal struggle of trusting myself against all the noise. Could I really do this again, in such difficult conditions?
I chose to see the recession not as a roadblock, but as an opportunity. I created a business that became a haven for clients—an escape from the outside world, a place of luxury, excellence, and service beyond expectations. And it worked.
Growing, Scaling, and Gaining Recognition
With a strong foundation, I focused on expansion—taking over a second floor, growing my team, increasing revenue, and positioning my brand as a leader in the industry. I hosted high-profile events, partnered with luxury brands, and made sure every detail of the business delivered above and beyond for our clients.
The impact didn’t go unnoticed. In 2012, ITV selected my business to be part of ITV Business Club, a year-long documentary series following the growth of 12 businesses, including Rolls-Royce, Reading Football Club, and Day Lewis Pharmaceuticals. It was an incredible experience, sharing insights with some of the UK’s top business leaders and having our journey televised weekly. I also had the opportunity to write a column for a leading magazine, further cementing my expertise in the industry.
Living My Vision
Looking back, every challenge, every risk, and every moment of uncertainty has been worth it. I’ve built a business that aligns with my values, given myself financial stability and independence, and most importantly, created something I’m incredibly proud of.
My journey isn’t just about business—it’s about believing in yourself, pushing boundaries, and having the courage to create something extraordinary, even when the odds are against you.
And that’s exactly what I’ll continue to do.
